CLAN MAP OF SCOTLAND

By the reign of James VI, the areas occupied by various clans or families were quite well defined, although liable to be increased or diminished according to circumstances. Some families held small areas of land, so if their names are not on this map, they were not necessarily landless. This Clan Map is intended to give an indication of the principal areas occupied by the Highland Clans or Lowland families at that period
