HENRY VIII, King of England, born at Greenwich, 28 June, 1491, Duke of York, 1494, Prince of Wales and Earl of Chester, 1502, succeeded his father, Henry VII, as King of England, 22 April, 1509, Crowned 24 June, 1509, Defender of the Faith (Papal Bull 1521), King of Ireland, 1540-1, married 1stly (Papal Dispensation) at Greenwich, 11 June, 1509, Catherine (born. 16 December 1485; died at Kimbolton Castle, 6 January 1536, buried at Peterborough Cathedral), widow of his brother Arthur, Prince of Wales, and daughter of Ferdinand V, King of Aragon and Castile, and had issue,
1. Henry, Duke of Cornwall, born 1 January, died 22 February 1510-11.
2. A Prince, Duke of Cornwall, born and died November 1513.
3. A Prince, born and died December 1514.

Queen Catherine was divorced upon the King's Commission, 23 May, 1533, Henry, having
married 2ndly, secretly at Greenwich, 25 January 1532-3, published Easter, 1533, Anne Boleyn, Marchioness of Pembroke
(born. at Blickling Hall, Norfolk, 1501), daughter of Sir Thomas Boleyn, 1st Viscount Rochford, 1st Earl of Wiltshire and Ormonde. By her he had issue,
4. A Prince, born. and died 29 January 1535-6.
2. ELIZABETH I, afterwards Queen.
Queen Anne's marriage, pronounced valid 28 May, 1533, by Archbishop Cranmer, was annulled by him, 17 May, 1536, and she was beheaded at Tower Green, 19 May, 1536 (buried at the Tower of London). Henry VIII married 3rdly, at Wolf Hall (with Archbishop Cranmer's dispensation), 20 May, 1536, Jane (born circa 1500; died at Hampton Court, 14 October 1537, buried at Windsor), daughter of Sir John Seymour, Knight Banneret, and by her had issue,
5. EDWARD VI, afterwards King.
HENRY VIII married 4thly, at Greenwich (with Archbishop Cranmer's dispensation, and then by him annulled, 13 July 1540), 6 January 1539, Anne (born at Dusseldorf 22 September 1516; died without issue at Chelsea, 17 July 1557,
buried at Westmmster Abbey), daughter of John, III Duke of Cleves. He married 5thly (married declared at Hampton Court, 8 August 1540), Catherine (born circa 1521; beheaded at Tower Green, 13 February 1542,buried in the Tower of London), daughter of Lord Edmund Howard, niece of Thomas, 2nd Duke of Norfolk. HENRY VIII married 6thly, at Hampton Court, 12 July 1543, Katharine (born at Kendal Castle 1513, married 4thly, 3 March 1547, Thomas, Lord Seymour of Sudeley, KG, Lord High Admiral, brother of Queen Jane Seymour, and died at Sudeley Castle, 5 September 1548, buried there), widow of Sir Edward Burgh, and of John Nevill, 3rd Lord Latimer, and daughter of Sir Thomas Parr, of Kendal.
HENRY VIII died at Whitehall, 28 January 1547 (buried at Windsor), and was succeeded by his only surviving son, as
EDWARD VI, King of England and Ireland, born at Hampton Court, 12 October 1537, Duke of Cornwall at birth, succeeded his father, Henry VIII, as King of England and Ireland, 28 January 1547, Crowned 25 February 1546-7,
died unmarried at Greenwich, 6 July, 1553 (buried at Westminster Abbey). By his will he appointed as his successor,
JANE, Queen of England and Ireland, born at Bradgate, Leics, October 1537, succeeded as testamentary heir pursuant to Letters Patent for the Limitation of the Crown, 21 June, 1553, to Edward VI as Queen of England, 6 July, 1553, proclaimed at the Tower of London, 10 July, deposed 19 July 1553, married at Durham House, Westminster, 21 May 1553, to Lord Guildford Dudley (beheaded, 12 February 1553/4), 6th son of John Dudley, Duke of Northumberland, KG, and was beheaded without issue at Tower Green, 12 February 1553/4 (buried at the Tower of London). She was succeeded by,
MARY I, Queen of England and Ireland, born. at Greenwich, 18 February 1515/16, styled Princess of Wales, bastardized by Statute, 1533, not again legitimated but declared presumptive heir after Edward VI by Statute, 1543, proclaimed Queen, 19 July, 1553; Crowned 30 November 1553, married at Winchester Cathedral, 25 July, 1554, as his 2nd wife, Philip II, King of Spain, Portugal, Naples and Sicily, Duke of Burgundy, King of England and Ireland jure uxoris, and testamentary heir of Mary, Queen of Scots, to the Crown of England (died at El Escorial, 13 September 1598, buried there), and died without issue at St. James's Palace, 17 November 1558, buried at Westminster Abbey. She was succeeded by her half-sister,
ELIZABETH I, Queen of England and Ireland, born at Greenwich, 7 September 1533, styled Princess of Wales, declared Heiress-presumptive by Statute, 1533, bastardized upon annulment of her mother's marriage by Statute, 1536, but declared presumptive heir after Mary I by Statute, 1543, succeeded her sister, Mary I, as Queen of England and Ireland, 17 November 1558; Crowned 15 January 1559, died unmarried at Richmond Palace, 24 March, 1603 (buried at Westminster Abbey), and was succeeded by the heir-general of Henry VIII, in derogation of the provisions of his will, namely,
