COAT OF ARMS

Coats of Arms belong to individuals rather than families, as is sometimes believed. There are many vendors selling 'family coats of arms', but there is no such thing. For an individual to have a right to a coat of arms they are either granted it or it is passed down the male line from a legitimate ancestor.

Many of Burke's family records detail coats of arms for the current head of the family, examples can be seen by searching the database.
