ENGLAND - WARWICK CASTLE

Initially an Anglo Saxon defence against Danish invasion, the first true castle on the Warwick Site was built by William the Conqueror in 1068. He appointed one of his followers, Henry de Beaumont, as Constable.

The Earldom changed hands several times over the generations until, in 1604, James I presented the by now dilapidated castle to Sir Fulke Greville. It remained in his family right up to the Twentieth Century.

In 1978, Warwick Castle was sold to the Tussaud group. It has since undergone extensive restoration and has become a successful visitor attraction. Guy David Greville today holds the title 9th Earl of Warwick and 9th Earl Brooke of Warwick Castle.
