SCOTLAND - EDINBURGH CASTLE

The most famous Castle in Scotland

Edinburgh Castle is the most famous of all the Scottish casltes and dominates the city of Edinburgh. Perched on a hill in the old town, the castle looks down on the new town and Princess street, with views out to the Firth of Forth. The castle dates back over a thousand years with the earliest part being St Margaret’s Chapel, which dates back to the 12th century. There have been many residents of the castle with each leaving their mark and hence the mix of architectural styles that can be seen today. Edinburgh Castle is a major tourist attraction and home to the Crown Jewels of Scotland, the Stone of Destiny, the 15th-century gun Mons Meg, famous for the One o’ Clock signal and the National War Museum of Scotland.
