IRELAND - BLARNEY CASTLE

Blarney Castle is famous for 'kissing the Blarney Stone'. The Blarney Stone is said to 'have the power to bestow eloquence on all those who kiss it'.

The Castle is situated outside Cork and is the third castle to be built on the site. The earliest structure was made of wood and dated from the 10th century. The present structure was built by Dermot McCarthy, King of Munster in 1446. Today Blarney is open to the public and is popular with tourists seeking to 'kiss the Blarney Stone'.
