SCOTLAND - BALFOUR CASTLE

The most northerly castle hotel in the world.

Balfour castle was once the home of the Balfour family but in 1960 following the death of David Hubert Ligonier Balfour, who left no heirs, the castle was sold. The castle is now the family home of the Zawadski family and has been a hotel for over 18 years. As well as entertaining guests from all over the world in their home, the Zawadski family offer weekly tours. Balfour castle is situated on the Orkney Isles, lying at the very edge of Europe. The peaceful Northern Islands have a rugged natural beauty, with unspoilt beaches, plentiful wildlife and unique culture and traditions.
