Burke’s Great War Peerage (October, 2008)
Burke’s Great War Peerage is a reprint of the Seventy Sixth Edition of Burke’s Peerage and Baronetage that was first published in 1914.
This edition gives fascinating historical insights into the world of noble British and Irish families on the eve of the Great War. For genealogists the Great War Peerage is also one of the more important Burke’s editions when undertaking research into the genealogies of noble British and Irish families. Along with the latest (107th) Peerage and the 1939 (97th) Peerage the 76th Edition delivers broad coverage of all the relevant families.
The printed section of Burke’s Great War Peerage will cover Royal Family records, Archbishops and Bishops, the Knightage, Companionage, Privy Council, Precedence and Orders of Knighthood. Peerage and Baronetage family records are to be supplied in fully searchable electronic form on CD.

Burke’s Royal Families of the World
We are delighted to announce that William Bortrick is compiling the new edition of Burke’s Royal Families of the World, which will be available in 2009.
This unique work is a comprehensive Dictionary of World Royalty, reigning and non-reigning, major and minor. This volume features individual entries for over 50 Royal Houses, which have reigned in Europe and Latin America since the middle of the nineteenth century. Burke’s Royal Families of the World has been described as ‘a super Almanach de Gotha’, and has become the definitive work on its subject and makes a significant contribution to European history.
These entries comprise a biography of the Sovereign or present Head of the House, an entertaining historical essay on the Monarchy and a detailed narrative pedigree of the Royal Family. The book is fully illustrated with coats of arms and portraits. The Appendices includes some fascinating genealogical tables, as well as entries for the Mediatized Sovereign States of the Holy Roman Empire, a list of Orders and a Select Bibliography.
William relishes the challenge of writing the new edition of Burke’s Royal Families of the World. He will expand, revise and update all the existing genealogies, as well as write new biographies for the current head of each family. He is eager to hear from anyone who feels that they can contribute to the lineages and pedigrees, please contact him at: royal@burkes-peerage.net
